2021.12.06 14:01 jannikn I have completed the Halo Infinite campaign, any non-story questions?

I have over this weekend played through the entire Halo Infinite campaign from start to finish.
I've had access to the game in order to make this video about my full halo experience so far.
So if you've got any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I cannot talk about story, as the NDA is rather strict on revealing certain thing about the story and I don't want to ruin anyone's experience.

2021.12.06 14:01 memeticist1 Windows update causing flickering issues

I am having the strangest issue after the latest Windows 10 update on my virtual machine. It has caused several windows applications/processes to start flickering after they are launched. For example, the settings menu has become almost unusable due to the flickering. It also happens with the built in photos viewer, etc.
I have run SCANNOW, and that did not repair the problem.
Thanks for any assistance.

2021.12.06 14:01 autotldr COVID disrupted global malaria fight, leading to thousands more deaths: WHO

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 43%. (I'm a bot)

The World Health Organization said Monday that the global response to the longtime threat of malaria has taken a hit as the coronavirus pandemic disrupted health services in many countries, leading to tens of thousands more deaths worldwide last year - as questions remain on the possible fallout this year.
The figures for last year could have been much worse though, with WHO saying its original projection anticipated a possible doubling of malaria-related deaths in 2020, and many countries sought to ramp up their programs to fight malaria.
"The first message, in many ways, is a good news message: Due or thanks to the strenuous efforts of malaria-endemic countries - partners and others - I think we can claim that the world has succeeded in averting the worst-case scenario of malaria deaths that we'd contemplated as a likely or possible scenario a year ago," Dr. Pedro Alonso, director of WHO's Global Malaria Program, told reporters.
It cautioned that progress against malaria has leveled off in recent years, and two dozen countries have tallied increases in deaths related to malaria since 2015, the baseline year for WHO's malaria strategy.
In the 11 hardest-hit countries, annual cases of malaria grew by 13 million to 163 million between 2015 and 2020, and deaths rose more than 54,000 to nearly 445,000 annually as of last year, WHO said.
A revised methodology in tallying the deaths from mortality, said to be more precise, found that more than 10 million malaria deaths have been averted since the year 2000, Alonso said.

2021.12.06 14:01 fergie1815 Connect Nest and Smart Radiator Valves in Homekit

Hi All,
I am running a Nest 3rd Generation hooked up to Homekit via Homebridge using HOOBS. I have recently purchased an EVE smart radiator valve as I would like to set up some automation where:

  1. If the Nest temperature setting changes that this should update all the EVE SRV's so that all the radiators in the house are aiming for the same temperature
  2. This will have the effect of turning off the Nest when the desired temperature is reached and also turning off the SRV's
How can I set up an automation in Homekit to achieve this as I cannot seem to have a link between the Nest and the EVE SRT's so they are in sync?

2021.12.06 14:01 Evie_xiv Why I would recommend FFXIV to pretty much everyone

This started as a mail to a friend who doesn't usually play videogames. But I have come to realise how much I love this game and if I can somehow contribute to just one person setting out on this incredible journey, I consider this post worth. In no specific order... Have your reasons!

- The music!
The motifs accompany story as well as characters. Popping up as remixes in later expansion when the plot revolves around what we learned in the past. How characters changed. As it grows more intense adding lyrics. Lyrics that fit so spot on that I am speechless.
- The dialogue!
Tackling so many worries and issues that we may as well experience in real life. From conflict, prejudice, war, loss, depression and more. Having characters and by expansion us overcome them while gaining wisdom and hope believing what they teach us. To have them become stronger with their lessons. Braving new adventures and helping to pass their lessons on to new people they meet. Be it friend or foes. To have grown so much in the end.
- The story!
While I did not experience the time and regret not being there when it all started... The game flopped and in November 2012 it was shut down. But instead of throwing it all away, it got reworked and it launched with a whole new story. Story that has been planned through all the way to Endwalker. Glimpses of the past we learned in our first 20 levels still relevant. NPCs from Classquests, Sidestories or Tribes all coming together later on.
- The combat!
A clear UI, easy to pull aggro as a tank, great targeting options for healers, engaging combo and rotations for dps, new mechanics in almost all dungeons and trials. Always being thrilling to discover and overcome, an echo system to makes you stronger after a wipe should you struggle with a specific fight, completely optional and skippeable hardcore content for a few extra rewards.
- Quality of Life Patches!
Over the past years braving the pandemy we've gotten changes to make gathering and crafting more userfriendly. Changes to the UI. Even reworking old story because people commonly memed about how there are too many fetchquests. So they cut them out for new players! Classes becoming more fun to use with adjustments depending on player feedback mostly.
- Friendly towards new Players!
There are help windows that explain every new mechanic. While they may be tedius at the start, explaining you to move at first, keep them on. I don't think I had to google a single thing. It's all understandable. For roles there is practise areas. Never tanked in a game before? No problem! Ask the NPC for otpional training. Need to do old dungeons that may be inactive in any other game? They are part of roulettes granting a bonus to daily completion so people still do them all! Sidecontent that people may skip? Is part of temporary reaccuring events that give people extra rewards so they have an inscentive to play them and help newer players catch up. In later expansions when the content becomes harder you gain the option to run dungeons with NPC avatars. So if you fear to be a burden towards other players you can do your first blind run closely observing and reacting to your trusty allies.
- Go at your own pace!
You don't need to be max level to enjoy the game. The game does not start at the end. The road is the journey. There is plenty sidecontent to do for all levels starting at 50.
- How much the Developers care!
Shutting the game down to reboot... Giving us Quality of Life over and over again... Even compensaing us with free playtime because they can not expand their server (Q-times were an issue these past days) for expansion launch due to pendemic hardware limitations. I am so endlessly happy for everyone of those developers who put their heart into it because it gets the attention and hype it and they deserve.
